新竹高中校長室秘書張花興接受中央社記者訪問表示，因教育部去年通令全國高中職，每週至少2天可延後到校，校方即實施每週有2天需上午7時30分到校、3天可於7時50分到校，而固定朝會時間為每週二上午7時30分。
張花興說，因為學生到校的時間不一致，讓學生常會搞混，也有不少家長反應影響接送問題，經18日的校務會議決議通過，將於下個學期開始，學生統一於7時50分到校即可，也進而取消原本每週都會舉行的朝會活動。
張花興指出，過去校方會透過朝會向學生宣達許多事項，雖然下學期開始不再舉行朝會，但會改以「月會」方式，將其列為「正常課程」，例如演講、頒獎等多元活動進行，同樣可達到向全校宣達重要事項的目的。
新竹高中校務會議決定廢除朝會，有網友19日將此事PO上網，引發討論，網友一致贊同，認為「有什麼事就集合班長或導師宣導就好，朝會根本已經國軍化」，也有人表示，「朝會根本沒啥意義吧。把大家集合聽廢話」。
